A client said she has “a family plan on AVG virus protection for all my computers”, and the renewal is coming soon, what should she do?
AVG has been one of the best regarded anti-virus programs for years.
If you like it (the user interface, the way it tells you information) keep it.
If you want to use the free version, that’s fine too. Look at what the paid version offers that the free one doesn’t and pick.
What you can’t do is have no antivirus software running. You need it, on each computer and on each phone.
AVG is one of their recommended programs. If you hear of some “other, better” program, and it isn’t on PC Magazine’s list, keep away. There are so many good programs they have reviewed, there is no reason to use one they haven’t reviewed.
And maybe PC Magazine didn’t publish a review because the “better” software is actually terrible or a hacker’s program. For that reason, only download critical software from the author’s website.
